Synchro swimmers from Switzerland and Great Britain triumph at FINA Masters 2015

The final day of the synchronised swimming tournament ended with the team competition.

Representatives of two countries competed for medals in the free and technical routine events. The British team took gold in the 50-64 age group while Swiss synchro swimmers topped the podium in the 25-34 age group. Their performance was one of the most memorable ones. In the free routine event, the girls performed complicated technical elements to the potpourri  of popular songs and ended up winning gold. According to the Swiss synchro swimmers, victories don’t come easily and today’s first place on the podium took five long years of hard labour.

“We’ve been doing synchronised swimming since childhood. Our team has been existing for five years now. And it’s our third FINA World Masters Championships; we’ve been also to Montreal, Canada. These Championships were rather challenging for us because we had to perform three times a day, which implied tremendous physical exertion. As for the competitions, they went perfectly. We would like to thank the host city for giving us such a warm welcome. Being embraced by such a pleasant atmosphere,  we managed to win our first gold medals without too much strain.”
